Graduate Architect features in Buk Bilong Pikinini’s Little Reader Series

Buk Bilong Pikinini (BbP) featured our very own Graduate Architect, Ms Vanessa Kagena in the newest episode in their Little Reader Series. The Little Reader Series gives Papua New Guinean children real-life role models that they can relate to.

Representation is important, and this series provides powerful imagery to encourage a love for reading and life-long learning. Literacy and access to quality education are vital in improving every aspect of a person and in turn communities stated Pacific Palms Property (PPP), General Manager, Gordon McMaster.

PPP is proud have one such role model amongst our ranks. Ms Vanessa Kagena’s passion and commitment to her craft are evident in her excellent work. As our Graduate Architect she has led the design process for the Harbourside shade, deck and pirate ship which has helped transform the Precinct. She assisted with the new Beachside Food and Beverage outlets and most importantly she has led design process for the exterior @345, formerly Burns House on Champion Parade.

Harbourside Night Markets

Harbourside Night Markets are on!

This is the biggest markets we’ve ever had; we’ve gone from 25 stalls to 45 stalls. We extended out towards the front of the precinct.

It was the biggest and best markets we have had to date.

We had two live bands playing on either side of The Deck, we had a roaming magician JR Magic who brought a little of his special brand of hocus pocus down to Harbourside. The ever-entertaining Poly Crew delighted market goers with the performances throughout the night at various spots around Harbourside.

The Masterpiece Band kept the crowd on the West end of The Deck entertained and the Mereani Masani kept the attendees of Glow Boutique Pop Up Shop entertained on the East end. Glow Boutique had a very beautiful set up at the former Sogno. They displayed all the products they carry in their shop and invited guests were treated to an exclusive look at Wiska and Tabu Designs who both dropped new home ware lines that evening.

The next night markets are scheduled for Wednesday 1 September. If you are interested in having a stall at the next night markets, please contact Marie to secure your stall today. You can contact Marie via email on [email protected] or via mobile on 7007 3046. Stalls are K200.

Property & Leasing Team Mid-Year Conference

The Property & Leasing Team held their mid-year conference at the Grand Papua on Wednesday 14 July 2021. At the conference team members presented their highlights, lowlights, challenges, and items for improvement moving forward. At the start of the year, KPIs for each team member were set and it was great to see each team member rise to challenge to hit their respective targets.

It was the first time some of our colleagues had done presentations of this nature. One of the key points our National Property Manager Rod Ford made is his address to the team was growth. Growth only happens outside of our comfort zones, if you want to do something you’ve never done, you’re going to have to do some things and go to places you’ve never been (mentally, socially, psychologically).

Basic Fire Fighting Training

Fire is known as a major risk in buildings, being a property management firm it is important to ensure our staff are knowledgeable about fire safety in case of an emergency that may arise in any one of our properties.

The objective of the training that was hosted by our very own Fire Risk Department was to enable our staff to better understand the complexity of fire and what is involved in extinguishing it.

The theory aspect of the training was about understanding fire, the elements involved in fire, the different classes of fire, various types of fire extinguishers that are used on the different classes of fire and steps involved in operating a fire extinguisher which was the key part of the practical phase of the training.

Independence Celebration & Promotion

The Management & Staff made sure to turn up to work in their PNG colors to show their pride and happiness for the country reaching another milestone.

This year marked Papua New Guinea’s 46th Independence Celebration. The management and staff were sure to celebrate this occasion and what better way to do so than with some local cuisines and local music. The various departments performed some “sing-sing” to commemorate the special occasion.

To show our appreciation for our followers on our social media platforms, we did an independence hamper giveaway. The hamper basket consisted of authentic PNG traditional items, from a cane basket that was filled with hand fans, bilums, coasters, coffee, galip nuts and many more, all sourced from our tenants.

PPP Celebrates Literacy Week with BbP

To celebrate the 2021 Literacy Week the BbP Library’s nationwide hosted a full week of preparations leading up to the final event being the Market Day to celebrate the occasion. The Market Day gave the students an opportunity to sell the items they created throughout the week.

PPP was part of both the preparations that took place prior to the Market Day and on the Market Day as well. Some of the PPP Staff were part of the market day preparations at the BbP Tatana Library where they assisted the students with building and crafting items that were to be sold on the Market Day. On the big Market Day, we had more PPP Staff Members that attended the celebration at the Koki Library.

Special items were presented to the Special Care Nursery to cater for the little patients in that ward. More gifts were given to the various Children’s Ward and it was such a heartwarming experience for our team getting to meet the children and their parents – the smiles on their faces will put an even brighter smile on your face.
